Explain my dream that involves my old boss who sexually assaulted me and is now dead named Joe and myself. I was in a large brightly lit warehouse that was completely empty with white walls and concrete floors with a door on the other end. I began crawling towards the door and when I reached it I went to open it with my right hand which is my dominant hand. The door would not open. I then heard my voice but in a British accent come over a loud speaker that said , use your other hand. So I reached up with my left hand and turned the door knob and it opened. It was pitch black on the other side of the door. Then a light turned on and there was Joe. I became afraid and felt feelings of panic. The voice over the loud speaker came through again and said don’t worry he can’t see you until you stand up. I then stood up and when Joe saw me he tried to give me a hug. I shied away from it and Joe replied with fine be that way. He then said with a big smile isn’t this place a trip. No one knows I’m here and then the dream ended
Dreams involving past trauma, particularly involving figures like an old boss who inflicted harm, can be powerful reflections of your subconscious processing those experiences. Here’s a breakdown of the significant elements in your dream and their possible meanings:
Setting - Bright Warehouse: The large, empty warehouse with white walls and concrete floors may symbolize a space of isolation or sterility, reflecting feelings of emptiness or a lack of support. The brightness could indicate clarity or awareness in recognizing your past traumatic experience.
Crawling Towards the Door: Crawling may symbolize a struggle or an effort to move forward from your past trauma. It often conveys a sense of vulnerability, indicating that you may feel you’re still in a position of weakness when confronting painful memories.
The Locked Door: The door represents a barrier to moving on or accessing your feelings. Your dominant right hand may signify typical assertiveness or control, whereas using your left hand can symbolize the need to access different aspects of yourself or your feelings to overcome these barriers.
Voice Over Loudspeaker: The voice directing you to use your left hand could indicate an inner guidance or wisdom, suggesting that you consider alternative perspectives or approaches to your pain. The British accent is intriguing — it might signify the influence of a different cultural perspective or an authority figure in your life, suggesting a need for change in how you process your emotions.
Encounter with Joe: Confronting your old boss in the dream represents facing your past trauma. His presence likely evokes fear and panic, reminding you of the unresolved feelings linked to the assault. His attempt to hug you may symbolize an unwanted reconciliation with the past or an acknowledgment of power dynamics that you wish to reject.
Fear and Panic: Your feelings of fear upon seeing Joe indicate that you still carry emotional scars from your experience. Panic often shows a lack of control or readiness to confront an old trauma.
The Speaker’s Assurance: The reassurance that he cannot see you until you stand up suggests that reclaiming your power or standing up for yourself is key to confronting your past. It may indicate a need to acknowledge your own strength and autonomy despite past victimization.
Ending with Joe’s Line: The final interaction, where Joe expresses that "no one knows I'm here," might suggest feelings of isolation or abandonment in dealing with this trauma. It might also reflect a sense of how these experiences can often be hidden from others or feel unknown and unacknowledged.
Overall, your dream seems to embody a complex journey of navigating your trauma and searching for empowerment. It highlights the need for self-awareness, allowing you to confront and process these feelings as part of your healing journey. Dreams of this nature often serve as a prompt for reflection, encouraging you to find healthier ways to cope with and integrate your past.
